issues with custom maps

i have noticed that when i make a custom map or alter an existing one and put it in the correct place (the C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy) location. when i start the game it has nothing in the map at all. but if i go and put it in the (D:\Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy) folder it works fine. whats with this?

Because the actual proper place is the D:\Games\... path, not your Docs and Settings path

It has always worked that way, though by now I forgot why

then why is there a folder for it in the doc's and settings path?
