Saved games problem

Hi

     Game runs fine, saves ok, loads the saved game ok. Except, none of my saved games allow me to zoom into a planet, which of coarse, is useless. I'm running Vista Home Premium. My Sins game is almost brand new, with the v1.04 patch installed. I really like the game, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. My DXDIAG info:
