Removing/disabling FF?

I am looking for a way to disable the AI from focus fireing. I've seen a few mods that do it but none for 1.04 and they all have some extra bits I don't want. Just looking for longer, flashier battles with out it becomes 2 walls of ships single targeting each other. Is there a script I can edit some where or does some one know a simple mod that doesn't change anything else much.

Basically each ship .entity file has a line for "PrefersToFocusFire" set to either TRUE or FALSE. Setting all of them to FALSE should do the trick for you, and it's the only thing you'll need to change.
