Bugs and glitches

First off, brilliant game.  You've realized the game we've been craving since Chris Robert's incompleted Conquest.

Experiencing random crashes maybe after 1-2 hours of play.  No messages (is there a error log?).  setup is:

Vista Home Premium

AMD 5000+

geforce 8500gt

(I know this will probably be lost in the noise but just incase someone is listening...)

The Empire window is your sorest point.  Selecting a planet/ship should scroll the window to display the selected unit.  Automatic updates to previous items in the treeview should not move the currently selected item.  And the scrollbar placement right on the edge of the screen conflicts with the edge scroll feature.

Also, some suggestions

Zoom-in should not automatically lock on the nearest target.  Or at least it should be configurable.

Sound sample for repair frigate is too loud and out of place in mix.

Some GUI elements still appear in Camera mode and would like feature to hide HUD.

Thanks from Austin,

Cherlo

Hey Cherlo,

You can hide most of the HUD elements with cinematic mode (toggle at the top) and all of them with Ctrl-Shift-Z

Are you having random crashes in Singleplayer mode or only multiplayer? If its MP, it's our biggest priority atm. If singleplayer, do tell...

You can change the zoom from locking on the nearest target by editing the camera settings file (in Settings in the game directory under Documents and Settings), there are two settings with names like "CameraLocksOnEntities" and "SnapCameraToMovingObjects" or something similar (I can't remember exactly at the moment). It's not a common request so it's not in the in-game menu, but it is available.

Will check the sound on the repair frig.

Thanks. zoomToCursorLocksOnMovingEntities set to false is what I was looking for. Unfortunately it is tied to camera lock on target. Now if I actually do select a target the camera doesn't follow it.

And for the crashes, I didn't realize my computer was not already updated to SP1. I updated and havent experienced a crash since.

And I'm not sure if this is the place to put this kind of input, but I dont think the Advent planetary bombardament launch sound sample is appropriate. It's a quite common sound sample that most gamers would be familiar with and I wouldn't associate it with a planetary weapon firing. The impacts sound great but the launching is well.. Sorry, I'm a stickler for sound.

Thanks again
