Keepsafe 2.0 and pst files

I'm currently using Keepsafe 1.95[ b].014 on Vista 32bit. It has problems backing up Outlook's pst files (currently using Outlook 2007). When I first started using the very first versions of Keepsafe on XP, it kept revisions of pst files ok, now it does not.

If I make changes to the file settings, it creates a file. If I right click the pst file and select Keepsafe it will create a file. But during normal operation of Outlook, downloading e-mail, deleting old e-mail etc, Keepsafe does nothing.

I thought it was supposed to save all file revisions? Is there something about pst files which prevents this?

How large is your PST?

Have you ever seen a revision stored using Outlook 2007?

I'm pushing the 2gb limit for my pst.  (:(  I exclude it now.  :)

File size is 240Mb.

Interestingly, since I selected create a backup by right clicking the pst file, it's created some revisions. I've had Outlook open the last ten minutes or so while it downloads me e-mail. It has revisions now, 11 seconds ago, 2 minutes ago, 4 minutes... 5 minutes... 6 minutes... 8 minutes. What on Earth is it doing? First I get none, then I get dozens. It's now creating files every couple of minutes.

My head is going to explode...

Its creating two types of file:
One is "Modified by.... ....INSEARCHPROTOCOLHOST"
The other is "Modified by....  .... in Outlook"

Why the two types of file? And why is it saving numerous files of 0KB in size? I set it to not save files smaller than 20KB.

Sigh...

KeepSafe has, as at 16th April, stopped backing up pst files again...

As it is at the moment, KeepSafe is too unreliable to be of use.

I currently have Outlook.pst on a separate partition, so it's easy to have Acronis keep a daily backup, but it's not ideal.

PST files are in general far too large to backup using KeepSafe especially given the frequency with which they are updated sometimes.

A realtime backup utility like KS is not really designed to do what you want it to do.  You just need a simple automatic scheduled backup every day.

Outlook backup is limited. It overwrites the previous version every time it runs. Not really what I want. Using Acronis once a day is better, you can script that to rename files when it runs a backup.

If it is not suitable then it should say so.
