Odd Bug with Progenitor Mothership

Ok, Playing the Systems of War map, I jumped my fleet in and took one of the ice planets in the center system.  After my Progenitor colonized the planet it immediately set in a course back to my homeworld.

I didn't tell it to go back and don't want it to go back.  If I give it another order it will accomplish that and then as soon as it is done it lays in a course for my homeworld again.  Nothing I do will keep it from trying to go home, even though the rest of the fleet it is assigned to is sitting placidly around the ice planet while I am building up its infrastrucutre and defenses.

Did I do something to make this ship always head towards the homeworld? or is there something going on I am not aware of? or is it just broken?

Strange. Never had this happen to me.

Is it reproducible? If yes, please upload a save game with the problem so that the devs can take a look at it.

Occasionally that happens to one of my frigates. Dropping and re-forming fleet usually fixes it.

happened to me when i was contructing an attack fleet, without issueing any orders ships which have just been completed started heading to this ice planet, i thought it might have because i had so many ships there, is there a limit to how many ships you can have arround one planet

If you guys see this happen, send a save and/or replay to [email protected] with a description so they can take a look.

It has to do with the auto-form fleet option. Sometimes when ships pass through a system other ships within the area will form their own fleet. They'll chase the fleet leader around. Its annoying to have ships flip around like that. Your best bet is to keep squads in different wells and move them around together.

Tiberius, good suggestion, but it is not what he is talking about, because it happened to me - but not with a Progenitor. I was - and pardon the lack of higher brain function, its early, the day was long and involved many emotional tribulations, especially a four hour drive... - anyways, I was the V- race, with the ship that looks like a sideways I and has the Power Surge - you know the one? Anyways, the problem persisted for I don't remember how long. The game is actually ongoing, its a full court comp stomp with my roommates, so if you will tell me how to get a replay saved and posted, I can put it up. Basically, as my fleet moved around fighting those dastardly AI, this Kortul(?) ship of mine kept trying to jump back to the planet that created it - as Vaylord said, if an order was issued, it would complete the order, and if the gravity well was clear of enemies, it would go back to trying to "warp home". My blood pressure rose accordingly, since it was a vital player in a hectic campaign against a superior enemy force... but yeah.

Replays are saved automatically when you end the game. Just look in your user path for the right replay folder (AutoRecord-Multiplayer in your case since it sounds like you were LANing). You don't actually have to post it anywhere, just look through it and note down the time index in the replay when it starts happening, zip up the replay and email it to [email protected], include the time index and what exactly they should look for.

Oh, snap. That is weird. I wonder if its a glitch with rally points not being deactivated after the ship is first produced, making it want to rally after every order? It seems the most logical given your description.

As a side note, when I first read the topic title, I thought this would be about the 'glitch' of the Progenitor Mothership delaying a group jump by getting pushed off the jump point due to its weirdly shaped hit detection polygon. This doesn't always happen, but its annoying to have to toggle the group jump button on-off for games where this occurs.
