Large Random Maps don't link Star System!

Please help! I am enjoying playing the large random map but the wormholes either link to one other star system or to each other. How am I supposed to get to the 3rd Star System? Last game I could jump to the second of 3 start systems and today with a new game the one wormhole connected to the other one in my own galaxy! I have read the forums and I only find people who don't do the research and can't travel through the wormholes at all. Anyone? Bueller?

Wormhole research is separate from Long Range Jumps research that allows for Star > Star travel

You don't need wormholes to travel between stars, just make sure you have Long Range Jumps and the galaxy will be open to you
