WinCustomize on Twitter

Yet another service to track...

http://www.twitter.com

Ok, we're late to the party, and just yesterday I myself was asking what the heck the point was of Twitter, but this morning, WinCustomize joined the Twitter craze that's sweeping the web.

A sort of hybrid between blogging and Instant Messaging, Twitter focuses on brief and to-the-point messages that are broadcast to anyone who wants to read them.  Forming a social network of followers and followees, you can find yourself engaged in conversation with people you otherwise would never have cause or occasion to chat.

It's free and easy to use.  You can either post and read updates via Twitter.com, or you can download any of a number of desktop-based twitter clients (Twhirl is my client of choice at the moment).

Here are a few Twitter accounts you might like to "follow":

Are you on Twitter?  Toss your twitter link in the comments below so others can "follow" you!

DoctorNick made me do it.  He threatened to date one of my daughters if I didn't join.
Follow me to boredom.  ;)

ugh. Just another way for people to communicate while losing their social skills...... no thanks. I'll stick with meeting at the local watering hole on Friday and Saturday night. If I have something to say that can't wait, I'll send a text message through my cellphone (thank goodness for unlimited texting).....

The Twitter apps are plentiful. From desktop widgets, to some cool stuff on-line. I just found this. It's pretty sweet. A Twitter Screensaver. Entirely configurable, both for Flickr and Twitter. Click the settings button from within the screen saver user interface to configure it. This runs ONLY on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista. If you are on XP or Server, you'll need to download the .NET Framework You ca get it here... WWW Link ...and it's free.

Sounds cool. Funny about the "do we need another social networking site". Sure we do and why not. More choices the better, makes life interesting. It's amazing how many of these ideas spring out of California though and most of them do.
