No Sound

For some reason whenever I run the game it mutes all the sound on my computer, and by mutes I don't mean it turns the volume down and I have to turn it back up, it just stops. There is no ingame sound and there are no sounds from other programs (such as windows media player). I thought updating might solve it but it didn't, does anyone have an idea? Thanks.

I have the exact same problem. I've tried updating DirectX and my sound card drivers, and changing the user.settings file, but nothing's worked so far. I'm using an E-MU 0404 card, which is geared towards audio production/recording, but it's never had problems with games before.

Try turning sound acceleration down a notch in control panel->sounds and audio.
