Art work for Galciv2

I want to ask who created the artwork characters for Galciv 2, all the race protraits looks kind of goofy.  the Drengin protrait in the diplomacy screen don' t look threatening.  It looks like it has a big smirk on his face everytime it tries to talk to you.  Like it wants to invite you over to beer.  The torians and the protrait of Alan Bradley, i thought i might have saw those two plusy fluffy animals in my local disney store.  Seriously, why the characters looks kind of..i don't know what is the right word, a bit cartoonish.  I mean it is cute, but i thought at least the Drengin should inspire some sort of dread, awe and fear.   But then...i laugh everytime i see them when it tries to talk to me via diplomacy.   And the text dialogue, who wrote them...it doesn't sound threatening enough or serious enough.

End of quote

For whatever reason (ie: lack of will/artists/etc), GalCiv2 is ultimately not a very serious game. In terms of its universe, background, and flavor text.

I like to mod the text dialogue, the Drengin are a bit foul mouthed in mine. I do somewhat agree about the character graphics, some of them do seem cheesy, especially the Terrans. Although MOO3 was a complete failure, I do think they had cooler race graphics and diplomacy videos.
