The Political Machine 2008 is coming

Stardock's new PC strategy game uses DesktopX technology

Stardock is pleased to announce The Political Machine 2008. Developed by the same team (literally) that made Galactic Civilizations II, The Political Machine 2008 puts the player in the role of campaign manager for a Presidential Candidate.

Players choose a candidate they want to run for President or can design their own from scratch. They then pick a scenario (current day USA, future world, Civil War USA, Drengi, or other scenarios) and then begin their quest to be elected President.

Candidates have many tools at their disposal including smear merchants, spin doctors, intimidators, and more all while attempting to raise money, appear on TV, take out advertisements, and more.

The candidate creation system allows players to design how their candidates look completely. For added realism, all candidates are bobble-heads.

Players can pre-order can join the upcoming public beta. The final game will be $19.95 and available at most retail outlets.

For WinCustomize users, all of the UI for the game was built using DesktopX 3.5. The game reads .dxpacks from the game directory and displays them on-screen allowing skinners to be game desginers too.

The game looks very appealing but is the above going to be an issue on Vista SP1?

This is great!  :CONGRAT:  Everyone I know has been craving more politics. Especially more campaigning! The campaign seasons are just not long enough, and I don't think they ever could be. Knowing how evenly divided this site, it's forums, Joe User, and the owner of all of these (you), are....it should prove to be a lot of fun for all conservative ditto heads. I'm sure this will sell like hot-cakes. Overcooked, burnt-out hot-cakes. Well worth the $19 + for welfare mama's everywhere. O.k., I'll bite. What awards? I would think if you are going to make a statement like this, you would proudly tell everyone just what awards you've won. I'm not trying to be a witch, I just feel that a statement like this should be backed up by something. If you posted it on your PM site, I apologize. I couldn't find it. I found a lot of Democrat & left wing bashing, but no list of awards.

The Political Machine is a strategy game that takes the real world mechanics of political campaigning and uses it to create an award-winning strategy game. O.k., I'll bite. What awards? Doesn't your nickname say it all??...I guess you missed the fact that they are a very award winning company overall, doesn't that say enough? Oh and as for those welfare mommas, maybe they should get off their backs and get a real job, because quite honestly, they have daycares everywhere so that the Working mommas can stay working. Besides welfare isn't for computers and gaming it is for the "welfare" of the children. I know for a fact this game is not for those children, nor is the marketing of this game even remotely directed toward them. Don't get me wrong there are some that need welfare, we just don't need to hear crap like this....If you don't like it or want it then fine so be it, but don't presume to act intelligent, because it isn't working.

Does anyone else find it a bit weird that the last two comments were apparently posted by the same user? See WWW Link- both posts go to this link. :NOTSURE:

Well, unless there's something wonky with my machine, both Reply 8 and Reply 9's posters go to the same location: users.wincustomize.com/True/ when you click the poster's name. Maybe this is an undocumented feature in the WC site?
