Spawn/duplicate bug?

Enemy stuck on rock keeps spawning a new ship

Presume this is a bug, I had a metal factory on a rock, wasn't in a planet zone though.  There were loads of enemies in that zone but they weren't taking out my factory.  The bug part is that one of their ships looked like it was stuck close to the rock with the factory on it and every few seconds it would spawn a new ship which would join the growing fleet size of the enemy.

So first of all, why did it keep spawning a new ship from the ship close to the rock, secondly why didn't it destroy the factory.  I could live with it's stupidity of not destroying the factory, afterall it's not going to make a massive difference, but to constantly spawn a ship from another ship every few seconds is cheating, unless there's a feature I don't know about.

Can you post a screenshot or anything? It's definitely not a feature, but I'm having a bit of a time trying to picture it :P

I'll post one if it crops up again.

As I say, the enemy's ship was right beside the rock, it was as if it was trying to get around the rock. When it relised it couldn't, it just kept spawing new ships next to it's own ship, the new ship would join the fleet and the cycle kept going, sounds weird but that's exactly what happened and explains why it's fleet in that zone kept getting bigger and bigger. Sorry, can't really explain it clearer than that.

Normally I'd have put this down to fleet management and building them up, but seeing as I could see into the zone because of my metal mine in that zone then I saw exactly what was happening.

I decided to scuttle the mine, moved my fleet to attack them but was obviously outnumbered so retreated. They followed me back to my planet, wether they followed me back to my planet because they saw my fleet size, I don't know. But it just seems that once the mine was scuttled, they were free to move because they should have really attacked me long ago with a fleet size that huge.

I think I see what has happened now. It was the distortion field weapon, never seen it before. I was focused on the metal extractor, so what was happening was that they were jumping to the metal extractor and because I was only focused on the extractor area it made it look like the ships were being built/spawning from that location.

Reading about the weapon, it says it jumps to enemies location and disables it. But with so many ships in the area I don't understand why it doesn't just capture it, the extractor is invulnerable due to being in an NON-colonizable system, that would explain why it's not being destroyed but surely better to capture it that just simply keep making it's abilites disabled every few seconds? It has a lot of money so if it doesn't have an appropriate ship in the zone then why not build one?

Least it now doesn't appear to be a bug.
