WMP 11 HELP NEEDED

I'm running out of ideas fast ...

HI Guys .. and gals ....

At present I am having an issue with WMP 11... basically , everytime I play a DVD or stream items such as BBC News 24 /Sky News etc ...

The darn thing is playing them all ok, but the display is absolutely horrendous .. its like a permanent grey filter has been placed over my screen ...

Now, I have tried to alter the display from within the WMP Enhancements -Video Settings tab but then it's either too dark at the slightest movement of the slider or too light....

Apologies for no screeny .. everytime I hit the prt scr and paste I get it into paint but it saves as a black square ....

I'm not sure but, it sounds like a CODEC issue?  :NOTSURE: I'm thinking could be this because you say the same thing happens whether it's DVD (from a PC DVD player I assume) or from an internet feed. Maybe someone a little more knowledgeable will see this.

First off...that should be 2.2 Ghz and if you have 1.5 GB of ram you're not in dual mode (and/or your front side is at 333).

That said, everything else 'looks' fine (looks being the operative word). Turn off Nview and if you changed any display/color settings in NV Control Panel, revert it back to default. Who's DVD decoder are you using?

hehe .. I wasn't sure about that for the processor ... My son in law built it ...

Thanks for being patient !!

As for the DVD Decoder, I am not really sure what you mean there... all I want to do is put a disc into my DVD Drive and watch my favorite films/movies in WMP11 .. I hope that makes sense ..

If its a CODEC issue may I suggest getting K-Lite codec pack...it has served me well for the past few months. I keep my WMP for my music only now since I watch all my video on Media Player Classic. The interface is not fancy but it does the job very well.

Sorry ,mate ... Yup I set it to the defaults ~ Looks great now !!

... and I have just checked with a DVD ... and Everything appears to be OK now ....

Incidentally I have never even configured the NVIdia applications .. They have always been like that since I got this PC .. My Monitor is fine, it was just the Video settings that the son in law must have set ... he put this pc thru a plasma screen tv ...

But it seems to be sorted now ... Thanks very much for the help , yrag , I really do appreciate it ...you're a star !!

Right ~ Its 5.20 here in the uk ... I did not expect to be on this late .. but it was worth it just to sort my prob out ... off to my pit now ...

Thanks again , yrag !!
