Gotta love those repairshops....

Two cameras or not two cameras, that is the question

Oh boy... you gotta hear/read this....

About a year ago I bout a digi-cam at my work, a Sony DSC W55.
A fabulous camera. Takes some extremely clear and brilliant pictures.

Anyway, last summer I had my boys on vacation, and as kids are, they got hold of my camera and played around with it, resulting in a nasty drop to the floor (the camera that is...)
Upon examening the cam it appeared to be ok, until I tried to zoom in....
Nothing happened.
Hmm... zoomed one more time....

oO

"Please turn the camera off and on, and try again" the screen suddenly said.

Oh... bugger....
The zoom function was busted...

'Oh well' I thought, 'shit happens'.
I never used the zoom anyway ;)

Then came the marry Christmas month of December, and I thought to myself;
'Hmm... do I dare letting the camera be as it is, or should I get it fixed, before xmas?'
Knowing very well that it takes at least 2 weeks to fix it, I returned it to where I work and got it shipped of for repair.
1, 2 and 3 weeks went by and not a damn notice from the repairshop yet.
I got my boss to call them to get them to at least let me know an eta.
They knew absolutely zip, nada, nothing - so my boss said "Screw'em!! Here, have this camera instead, and I'll deal with'em"
So I got a matching (new) camera instead, and the repairshop "bought" the damaged one
The Christmas pictures were saved! Yay :D

Guess what I recieved in the mail today?
hehe... the camera I sent in for repair, some four months ago....

Snowman or Zub...
The turntable...how well does it work?
Is the speed ok...is it adjustable? Is the stylus any good? Is it magnetic or ceramic? How well does the old vinyl convert to digital?

If it’s worth it, I need to get me one of those. :)

It works fairly well.  Neither Susan nor I took very good care of our vinyl after we the last turntable we had died (over a decade ago [and we didn't take great care before that]).  Me . . CDs and digital music are better.  I'd be better off torrenting all the albums I could and buying CDs for the ones unavailable.
The interface for converting is fairly simple.  But typing in track info is a pain in the ass.  After my third alum splitting tracks . . I just left the fourth as two long tracks of each side.
The turntable seems sturdy enough but not as sturdy as a "standard" turntable from a few decades ago (when last I bought).  It's not an Apple iPod . . it's a Creative Zen.  ;)  It has a "plastic-y" feel to it.
To really test I'd have to buy a new album . . maybe I will over spring break just to see what's what.
