According to what I've been able to dig out of the Internet Wayback Machine, today is WinCustomize's 7th birthday!

Originally launched on March 13th, 2001 in the aftermath of the dot-com bust that took out many popular skinning sites, specifically the original Skinz.org, WinCustomize is now the largest site on the Internet dedicated to GUI Customization with over 1 million pageviews per day, serving visitors from all over the globe. 

Today, our combined galleries hold over 75,000 user-submitted skins and screenshots, we recently passed our 3,000,000th registered user and our forums are more active and friendly than they've been in years.  Who would have thought, 7 years ago, that WinCustomize and skinning would be where it is today?

Where were you when WinCustomize launched?  Were you a refugee from another skin site, or had you not yet discovered the joys of OS customization?

It's definitely been a wild ride, with the site and community undergoing a lot of changes over the years.  It's been a great seven years, and here's to at least seven more!

I didnt even have a PC at 2001. Its the first and single site where I do skinning, enjoy forums and have some cool friends. I do think that this site is great. This community teaches a lot not only about skinning but also about personal life. Long Live Wincustomize. ;)

I hadn't even heard of PC skinning in '01.....my how I've grown since then! Now WC is the only site I visit anymore. I'm an addict..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY WC!!!

Thanks Zubuz for the wayback link, I remember it back then as I was an early member of Wincustomize when skinz.org bit the dust. Interestingly enough that was when XP was fresh and now we have Vista which is fresh. Happy 7th Birthday WC!!

Where was I?

I remember spending some 'silly time' debugging the upload system...for Opera.... T-Man had me up at all ungodly hours uploading all sorts of crud....to get it to work.

It was effectively day Zero....'go here we're about to go public', or something like that...and I've been here ever since.

My 'Moderator' anniversary is in this July....7 years...but to be fair...this weekend is my 29th consecutive F1 Grand Prix...so I guess I'm just one of 'the stayers'...;)
