Only Some .Dream and all WMV Works for DreamScapes

I have a number of cool .mpg dreamscapes that I downloaded and I want to use them but I am greated with nothing but a black desktop when I try to use them. WMV's are fine though. I also have a few .dream files that I want to use but none of them work except for BigBlueSeaHD, and the ugly bouncing box sample provided. Copper doesn't work nor does plasma.

I read through a number of posts that might indicate the problem and thought maybe my codecs were messed so I tried installing the Combined Community Codec Pack but that didn't help either. Whats up?

I have a brand new Dell XPS m1330 with Vista Ultimate and the latest version of DreamScapes installed.

You should not have needed to update your codecs with Vista Ultimate.
I would remove them.
32 or 64 bit Vista?

I agree with Zubaz about the codecs. If you can't uninstall them, I would do a system restore to before you installed them if possible. If you have Nero installed, it also installs its own codecs and some of the earlier versions conflicted with dreamscenes and deskscapes. Have you installed any DVD player or editing software that didn't come with your PC?

If you have dreamscenes installed also, you will have a check box in the "Choose desktop background" window that is labeled "use internal player". Try checking it and see if it helps. If you don't have that box, you haven't installed dreamscenes from Microsoft. You can run Windows updates to install it.

I'm not sure if this will help, but these are things I have seen.

Even though you might have just bought it new I would sill double check the video drivers. That has happened a few times to me as well. Do you have any other skinning software installed?
