Research not doing anything

I found this problem quite a few times nearly every game I played. Sometimes the research will not do anything even if there is only 1 queue. The status bar will not budge even though I have turned up the speed to 8X and wait for more than 5 minutes. Tried undo and click on other trees but still same result.

Luckily usually this happens when I have the upper hand. But then it deprive me of getting the full tech though.

Never seen this. If you're still building labs needed for the research you can queue it, but it won't start researching until the labs finish building.

Can you give a more specific example of when/how it happens and what you're trying to research?

Yeah, the only time this ever happens for me it's because I'm researching a milliion things in another screen.

Remember that there's only one research queue. If you've got stuff queued up in military, then new stuff in civilian won't start until the previous is cleared.
