New player with some problems

I purchased the Ultimate Bundle Pack digital distribution a few days ago, and have had a blast since then (though I think I spend too much time designing custom ships). Maybe this is me not understanding the game completely but I have some weird issues. I did a little searching but I didn't find anything so I apologize if this has been addressed. I am playing DA 1.80g.100 (supposedly...more on that later).

Really its just two things. After playing for a while, I noticed I am unable to form new fleets. Somehow I have 0 logistics. At the same time this happens, I notice the game deletes most, but not all, of my custom ship designs (infuriating after I spent an hour creating a new one). I can build one or two of my custom designs but I lose nearly all the other ones. I checked the custom ships folder in the DA folder in My Documents, all the designs are there, but I am unable to build them in the game. In addition, for some reason I am able to access the templates for all ships, even those which I have not researched the proper technologies (such as huge ships when I am only at medium tech level).

Saving/reloading does not work (gives me a whole bunch of invisible fleets) and does not let me build my custom ships. Also, if this has anything to do with it, Stardock Central says DA is version 1.80g.100, however when I load up the game it says 1.80e in the bottom left. Is this supposed to happen?

I remember there being serious problems with ships in 1.8e, not too dissimilar from what you're describing now (in fact, these errors were in 1.8c up to 1.8f). Currently I'm playing 1.8g, in which these errors were finally fixed. Now, I won't speak on behalf of Stardock, but my gut tells me you might be playing an older game (1.8e) while Stardock Central thinks you're updated to 1.8g.

Just my opinion, yours is likely a problem that users can't address. I hope you get some help from the devs.

Download this. Open it via Notepad to take a look and/or run it through your favorite virus scanner if you like; it's clean.

Close SDC, double click the .reg file, run SDC and update (it should report your version to be 1.7 before it does the update, that's what the reg file does, so that it will properly update). Obviously have the game closed while you're doing this as well. After it updates, run the game and report back.

It's simpler and takes less time than manually walking you through how to edit the appropriate registry value yourself, and it means you don't have to muck around in there if you don't want to.

I'm not positive this will fix all of your problems, but at the very least you should have the latest DA and have the fleet movement problems fixed.

It sounds to me as if you suffered the 'Plague' mega event. In this case, all your racial abilities are set to zero (including logistics), and for a lack of technology, you're not able to build any ships any more.

In the tech tree, a new tech should be available, which is the cure for the plague. Research it, and everything should be back to normal.

Just a note if this is the case, the tech won't appear in the quick list at the top. You'll have to manually go down to the section where the green techs are to find it.

Thanks everyone for the help.It seems I did have the plague and researching the cure fixed my logistics problems. However only after reinstalling 1.8g (thanks for the registry fix Sole Soul) did my custom ships come back and my template screen went back to normal. Redownloading the patch also fixed tons of irritating little things and displays properly on the menu screen. Regardless, everything seems fine, thanks again.
