Cant get Object Desktop Subscriber skins (Pirate and Magic Desktops)to work anymore...

Pirate and Magic Desktops

Hi

Last year, Object Desktop/WinCustomize subscribers were granted a couple special free pre-release full themes, Pirate Desktop and Magic Desktop. I however cannot install these anymore?  They are not recognized by My Colors as a theme, and the file is a Theme Manager file.  I can import into theme manager however, i cannot apply them, they partially complete then lock computer.  I want to use these two products to dress up my computer.  Any help out there....

When ever I see a post like this I am always want to ask, since you were able to apply these skins before and now you can't, what has change? :NOTSURE:

Have you downloaded new programs?

Changed settings?

Added new hardware?

If nothing has changed then I suppose the answer could be something has gotten corrupted somehow. You could try what Snidely suggests, if it works, fine, but then you don't really find out what want wrong. Personally I would take Zubaz's suggestion and contact support, but then that's how I am, I always want to know what happen.

Magic was a free suite to customers who renewed a couple time.  Pirate, however, was never free.

Magic is applied trough ThemeManager.  It will not work with MyColors as it is not a MyColors package.

I would suggest uninstalling ThemeManager, rebooting, then reinstalling it through Stardock Central.  You may also want to delete the suites, then redownload and install with the fresh ThemeManager.  You can get your download links from the lookup at: www.stardock.com/support

Just a guess, but the problem may lie with MyColors. Some versions just don't co-habitate well with Object Desktop's Theme's/Theme Manager.

I'd follow Pas's advice and just unzip the "parts" you want and apply the old fashioned way.

edit: was typing while Karmagirl posted......follow her advice ;)

-sigh-
so many product lines that 'almost' do the same thing.   :NOTSURE:
I'm afraid of Impulse.  ;)

I'd just be happy if I could get a simple answer as to whether or not they're going to give serial #'s to the Premium Suites that were purchased so that they can be used in MyColors and get rid of ThemeManager or if we're going to have to have 2 programs on the machine taking up time and brain cell use to remember if what I bought was a Suite or a Theme so I know which program to open it and apply it with. Guess those that purchase extras don't get answers or aren't important enough to answer as those that buy the most expensive things (oh wait, I'm one of those too.....hmmmm....). DD

HI KarmaGirl, Thanks for the tips. I uninstalled theme manager, deleteing all skins. Then rebooted, reinstalled theme manager and my skins magically appeared again, and all is working again. YEs you were right, i purchased the Pirate Suite, it was not a free skin like i thought. Now, just wish i could wade a little bit more into the world of skinning, I have some great ideas, just need to figure out the SkinStudio 6 application. Its an awesome job of you guys making this, the old skin studio 5 was horribly long in the tooth. Keep it up Frogboy and team.
