Logan Band Festival, among other things...

Tonight (Sat. Oct 2nd, 2004) was the Logan Festival of Bands. Our band went and did our new half-time show, and we did ok. Our first show was a Blues Brother's theme, playing Soul Man/ I Can't Turn You Loose, Respect, and Everybody Needs Somebody to Love. This show is a little more contemporary, with hits like Hey Yah, by Outkast, Stacey's Mom by Fountains of Wayne, and You Shook Me all Night Long, by AC/DC. Over all, we did pretty good, but the end of Stacey's Mom still needs a little work. Trumpets (my section) have un-Godly high notes, and some of the seconds can't hit them well, so that's something I need to work on when we get back to school on Monday. Overall, I'd give us a 7 out of 10.
One of the best things about away games and band trips is that I get to spend more time with my girlfriend, Sam. She was upset about some of the band members being stupid about role call, but I told her that there are going to be people like that all of your life. After that, she seemed to get more cheerful, so that's always good. A happy girlfriend is a lot better than an unhappy one.
I love Sam so much, and I'm glad I was able to meet such a wonderful person. I'm also glad that we both knew going into the relationship that it wouldn't be a sexual one. Sex before marriage (any kind) is not acceptable IMO. I want to save myself for the woman I marry.
I (kinda) talked to her dad tonight. Well, talked to might not be the right words, but we did say hello, and he didn't look like he wanted to kill me. He seems like a great guy, I just wish Sam's mom didn't hate me so much. Well, maybe hate isn't a good word for that. Severe dislike and distrust would be better.
Sometimes I wonder if her mom doesn't like me because she doesn't want to like me. Not to brag on myself, but most adult members of society think that I'm a "pillar and a role model." (I have had someone say those exact words to me.) I guess it's because she wants to protect her little girl, and I respect her for that.
Brandon broke my necklace that Sam got me after the competition.
That's life I guess, but it's going to be a pain to put back together.
Peace,
Beebes
