united we stand

" The coral reef which starts from deep depths of ocean & fail to make it to the surface appear to the horizon as if it never did started. And a single touch is what appears to create an event which was so long
in a state of completion"
-THOMAS HARDY

Hardy would have been a happy man seeing his thought provoking philosophies coming true in indian context.Surprised..............well you shouldn't be.A t least ,not after noticing the drama that is being performed on the bicameral legislature on a daily basis. The manipur crisis has triggered smothering sentiments & put forth the antideluvian smug "unity in diversity" in danger.

All of you Gandhians and Nehruvians would like to belittle my argument by saying that this is just an anomaly & situation would return to normal in due course. But sorry i am not buying that argument. It's not manipur we are talking about but the country's unity that is being questioned. If it's not manipur,it has to be kashmir or arunachal pradesh or andhra pradesh or assam for that matter.

India was never united a country. At least ,history tells us so.For all invaders India proved out to be
the least troubling venture with most indians being rather weak & ready to be subdued rather than fighting for their self esteem.Never really a single country, with satraps and princes waging unnecessary wars against each other.surely they didn't had time to promote harmony & camarderie in the people, a sense of brotherhood,a feeling of pride of belonging to one nation a feeling of being us that separates us from all those them out there.Culturally & ethnically Indians have been too diverse to establish themselves as a single entity.

Although we did come up against the british to win independence but many offbeat(rather non indian)
historians pint out that indians were never really strong to oppose british.it was because india was turning out to be a loss making venture that british left india ,to survive or to die on it's own.Independence won.show over.we get back to our own ways.Even the independence was blood smeared & both people & land got divided, with ethnic differences raising their ugly heads again.

post independence era was no good in terms of unifying country.we don't learn from our mistakes & therefore history repeats itself . And so it did .A country that looked so intact on the map was so fragile & brittle in reality that u couldn't help wondering what was wrong with this country.the centre was never strong enough to bring the people together who on their parts were complacent & didn't give a dime to the country until it came down to the question of their daily bread & then all they did was to curse the government and their fellow citizens.
the political leaders in new delhi were busy with their under table deals while in remort parts
of country people suffered ,wailed ,cried and become silent ..dead silent ,bantering the very template that underpins the establishment of world's largest democracy.cities die in night ,villages die in broad daylight shrieking as they go .But who cares until it's their turn to be hanged.

Pitted against the evils of corruption & complacency it's for us the people of india to decide whether we want to die or to live/TO live......i say that because u don't know how many kashmirs & manipurs & godhras & harsuds are waiting in the conduit to be disgorged .that requires time and careful thinking.Rome wasn't built in a day & we don't plan to build one.it's upto us to change our outlook and slap the barefaced reality of a disintegrating country in it's very face.to show the world & more importantly to ourselves that we deserve our place on this earth,we are worthy of existing ,we live life..............
