1.03: Economic glitch uncovered
from
Stardock Forums
Follow-up: A post from Usenet got me thinking about it more and I redug into a saved game and indeed, there is something odd going on with regards to the economics in certain games.
Basically the trade amount when calculated during the turn is different than when you look at the domestic policy screen. But only from the alien players.
After much digging (2am here now ) it seems that the alien trade ships are reversing course each turn. That is, when you look at the domestic policy screen, it's giving the trade route value as if the trade ship is on the way BACK to the alien's home base. But when the ship moves, it's getting turned around and then gets calculated as if it's on the way there which means it has a vastly different value. This isn't in my area so I've turned it over to the particular developer in charge of that code. It was quite a puzzle indeed. Should be resolved tomorrow.
Thanks again for your help.
I'm still seeing if I can fix it here.
