Pimps and prostitutes

as bad as each other?

I know I've just about killed this subject, but I have become slightly obsessed. I remember watching old episodes of Jerry Springer, and seeing these prostitutes go on the show and then these pimps would come on, in fur coats, dripping in gold, and looking like fools, but fitting the stereotypes perfectly. They would get instantly boo'd by the mindless audience and Jerry would attempt to verbally rape them in his usual sarcastic manner. Now don't get me wrong I don't think what they do is right. That they are making money off girls basically selling their ass. Not right by any stretch of the imagination. However, if we are talking about grown women, who know right from wrong. Who make the decision for themselves to be in that industry, if they want to sell their bodies like that, then why shouldn't the pimp step in? If this girl is willing to have that little self respect and sell her ass on a street corner, and put herself in whatever danger. Someone coming in, maybe making the situation that little bit safer, I hate to say it, but even be that bit more business minded, then why shouldn't they do it? People always feel sorry for these girls, that this big bad pimp made them do whatever, and in some cases I do not doubt that is true, but how did these girls come across these colourful characters in the first place? I'm sure it wasn't by living an innocent life.

They wanted to do this career, and both parties are cashing in on this lifestyle. Neither are right, but these women need to shoulder some of the blame themselves. They maybe the victim, but how did they get there in the first place? Now some pimps force young girls into it, this is a totally different story. I watched a programme about young girls who were no more than 13 being trained into having sex with men, taught how to lie about their age. They were given the date rape drug, given lots of alcohol, awful crimes were being commited against them, and they didn't even know. That is just wrong, and should never be allowed to happen. How these pimps can live with that is beyond me, I would call them men, but they are just poor excuses for men and I don't even want to give them that title.

I just hate that women think they can act the victim all the time, against big bad men. Please, we maybe physically the weaker sex, but that does not make us the stupider sex. We should be able to stand up to men, to not act all feeble and pathetic, to be strong independent women who know their own minds, and to act like we don't know what we're doing and some man just pushed us into it, is just pathetic. Not all cases, just some! With no prostitutes, there would be no pimps :).

Another reason why perhaps the oldest profession should be legalized and have strick governmental restrictions.

Though I don't agree with it, I realise it will happen regardless, and I would prefer for it to be heavily monitored than go on not monitored at all.

There'd be no prostitutes without sex, either.

There would be no 'us' without sex either . That could go on all day......

Thanks for the comment

As the most outspoken representative of JU's pro-prostitution lobby, you had to know I'd respond...lol

I think that most pimps are rather detestable individuals, as they usually manipulate their prostitutes into staying with the business through physical, emotional and verbal abuse, as well as providing a steady and welcome stream of drugs. These pimps are NOT acceptable, and it is NOT ok.

In the minority of cases, however, especially where it is legal, the pimps provide a safe haven for the prostitutes. The women do not have to fear abuse by the johns, as they know there's a bigass security guy standing at the door ready to show the john some "western justice", if he roughs her up. And this is an important service, in my opinion; a woman desperate to make a living through prostitution shouldn't have the desperation coupled with the very real fear of waking up dead as an anonymous hooker in a big city.

I have seriously considered working as a security guard in the brothels for that reason. In fact, I'm still considering it.

Excellent post, sally, as usual.

Gideon, a prostitute thread would not be the same without you

Totally agreed Gideon, they are poor excuses for humans. You have to think of where it starts though, in a lot of cases these women are already using this as a career, these men come in, make a lot of m oney, get greedy and want to keep the women doing it.

a woman desperate to make a living through prostitution shouldn't have the desperation coupled with the very real fear of waking up dead as an anonymous hooker in a big city.

At least it would make the situation safer for them, and give them a little peace of mind. It is never going to be a completely safe thing to do, but there are steps to improve it.

I have seriously considered working as a security guard in the brothels for that reason. In fact, I'm still considering it.

Well it's not something I could do, but you have my respect for considering it.

Thanks for the insightful comment, as always Gideon!

Well, as I like to be open and honest, I have a confession to make. Yesterday I fell prey to my bad old ways, and ordered a high class escort to come round my house for an hour. She was absolutely gorgeous. I first saw her pics on an internet website, and after the first phone call, I could tell she was down to earth and even had a warm heart!

But guess what. After a great struggle with my heart and base-nature desires, I chose to apply some self-control and inner muscle, and cancelled her visit. Believe me, it was such a painful choice. (As you know, it's one of my weaknesses, and unfortunately I'm too comfortable with doing such things, and with talking about them too.) But even though part of me was gutted about the cancellation, another part of me felt liberated, elated and strong. I’d finally conquered those fricken demons.

Vices and addictions are all part of the human condition. They come in all different forms. I believe that our lives on earth are simply opportunities to build spiritual muscle and inner-strength. This principle can also be applied to any challenge we face in life, including the ‘desert periods’ that we experience when we’re single, waiting for Mr or Mrs Right to walk into our life.

So Sally babe, regarding your current phase of looking for a bloke - stay patient! Your knight in shining armour will surely come, because you deserve him. What’s more, every moment you spend alone is a golden opportunity to cultivate self-love and inner strength. We don’t need a partner to make us complete or safe.

Life is difficult for a reason, but we can trust that there is an all-wise and beneficent purpose for it all. Even when we meet our Mr or Mrs Right, we can expect some challenges of a different kind to arise, because that’s how life is. But at the end of the day, it’s all good stuff, and we become stronger souls because of the challenges we face, rather than in spite of them. Everything happens for a reason, and what will be will be. (Even though those sayings are somewhat clique, it's timeless wisdom, in my opinion).

Chin up all.

Andy

Andy as you know my views on this kind of thing, can I just say i am proud of you. I know that this way of life is second nature to you, and it is not an odd thing for you to do, but there is so much more you could get. Instead of havinf a nice funny caring beautiful girl for an hour, get one for life. That you don't have to pay for. That will mean so much more in the long run. I know you know this already, and I would love to know what really made you cancel this appointment. Well done though, you can do better my friend.

As for my knight...ha! I fear I'm going to be waiting a good long while for that chump! Hehe, I know I don't need a partner to define me. I am strong enough to stand alone, and even with a partner, I will still be very much my own person, I think it's known as bloody minded, hehe! I just want someone to cuddle. Someone to love me. I want it, I don't need it at all. One day it will be nice. I am not ready to commit fully to anyone yet, I am young, and I wish to enjoy my youth before I do any of that.

I hope you find your princess Andy, you deserve her. Don't give in to temptation, and thanks for coming back, I knew you would. Do you think we are both psychic? Hehe *hides*

Thanx Sally, that's so sweet. It sounds like you have a wise head on your shoulders. There is a difference between needing and wanting, as you said, and not-needing is a sign of strength in my opinion. I try not to give in to temptation, and I intend to look for a lass for life now. A few years ago I wouldn't have done, but things change. It must all be part of growing up. I hope I never to visit an escort again, but as I learned on Saturday, I can't afford to have a weak moment or a slap-happy attitude, otherwise I'll let myself down and woudln't be happy with myself afterwards. We all know what's best for us deep down, and as long as we stay centred on that we can't go far wrong. I believe we can afford to be gentle on ourselves and learn to forgive ourselves, however, even if we do slip up. Although it's difficult being human sometimes.

I believe everyone is psychic, by the way Sally babe. We all have a sixth sense. It's just a matter of degree and by how much. And it's no use hiding - you can't hide far from a psychic

Brothels should probably be legalized, but not street walking. Like that county in Nevada (I can't think of the name). Each city would have to zone specific areas for it. So the cites could control whether or not they actually would allow them. Big cities would probably avoid them, smaller ones that are cash strapped might put some on the outer edges away from all the houses and schools. Health and safety regulations (just like resturaunts) and STD testing twice a month. Something to that affect. lol
