We all know big Russel Crowe is tough, but now he is going and pulling Mike Tyson’s on us!!!

As reported in this article, Russel’s body guard has spotted Russel having one to many beverages, and kindly informed him that it is time to go back to his wife and child!

I don’t know what it is about super-stars and their egos, but a simple request like that does not warrant a gnawing attack on one of the ‘plebs’

Superstars like Russel Crowe revel in the bad boy image; it gets him parts in movies, but what people like Russel fail to see, is that unfortunately because of our social structure – because he is a ‘Superstar’ in movie, he is inadvertently a role model for young blokes to look up to.

It’s unfortunate that every little action performed by guys like Russel Crow is scrutinised, just because he is a movie star, does not make him role model material, alas, he is a public figure, so he is a role model whether he likes it or not.

It’s our own fault – worshiping false idols… sure, Russel is a great actor, and a real mans man, but I would prefer it if such a well respected figure acted according to his status within society, why did the media even see fit to report this little scuffle?

Sensationalism will be the death of us all… I feel sorry for Russel, but with the money and power that comes with Hollywood, the responsibility is a given – up and coming actors as well as established ones should all take moral lessons, and realise, whatever they do, will be watched by the world, so they must acknowledge this, and act like the stand out citizens our society needs, rather than the drama queens our society craves.

I agree Muggaz. It is an unfortunate thing really. I mean for a long time people who have been able to act on stage have not been the most morally upright people. They are often drunks, junkies and sluts/womanisers. There's no reason why someone who dreams of acting on the stage should be also a morally upstanding person. But unfortunately they are. And they really should accept this responsibility a bit better. Singers are much more guilty of this problem I believe. Nonetheless, parents should be tempering the reverence their children bestow on popstars.

How do they do this when every little action is shoved down their throat? I.E 24hour marraiges and affairs with married men... the latest Britney situation is a joke... I mean, Britney is hot, but a role model for miss teenage America she most certainly is not.

I think the 'for kids to look up to' line gets used wayyyyy to much. The second your face is on camera does not necessarily mean that you are being looked up to. Does anyone look up to Stephen Curry for his magnificent work in such hits as 'The Castle' and 'Take Away'...i think not

Let Russell chew away at an ear or two...better that than being a wife beater. The ear chewing community needs support from big names like Russ

Stephen Curry doesn't make $40million a movie and is not Internationally recognised.

In an ideal world, we would not make idols of people just because of their acting ability, or good looks, unfortunately it is not an ideal world, and these people are in the public eye 24/7 - so they should act accordingly...

Charles Barkley once made the statement "I am NOT a role model". I think that if you market yourself as someone who is a role model, Like....lets say Michael Jordan for instance, then you are obligated to act as such. Otherwise you are a hypocrite. But In Russell's case, he has made it obvious that he's going to live the way he wants. Good for him! Let him go out and have a few too many, get in bar brawls, and play in his band and do whatever the hell he wants! (with the exception of gnawing on people...that ain't right!)

I personally am sick to death of all these hollywood types claiming to live by a certain standard of moral conduct. I long for the good old days of Robert Mitchum (who was once arrested for Marijuana posession in my home town) Peter O'toole, Richard Burton, Errol Flynn etc etc. etc. Those guys were actors, not role models.They liked to drink and have a good time. and what's wrong with that? nothing! They never claimed to be role models. Granted they may have done some stupid stuff once in a while, but don't we all have the right to make an ass out of ourselves? Why should they be any different...Because they're famous? In the end if they want to live the life, and they are willing to pay the consequences, who are we to say that it's right or wrong? Even if they make an ass out of themselves...lol

I know these dudes don't choose to be role models, it's just unfortunate that every little act is scrutinised by the media - like Hazza said, we dont get to see the good things people do, only the bad is sensationalised - i.e. Russel Crowe has donated a substantial amount to various chartities in Australia, but the media decides to knit pick on drunken incidents.

I know there is nothing wrong with drinking and having a good time, but Spiderman said it best - or Spidermans uncle if you want to be technical, with great power comes great responsibility... if you are a superstar, the only place you can be yourself is in the comfort of your $14 million mansion on the Rocks at Sydney Harbour, otherwise, you are turning it on for everyone all the time.

Thanks for saying that... I know it's easy to put the kids on front of the TV when conducting household chores... but the TV cannot be trusted with the minds of our young...
