First things first! Happy birthday grandma!

Now, back to things in Benin. I an sitting in a internet cafe in Lokossa. Yesterday we arrived and I was taken to my new house. Mama Katherine is my homestay mother and I have a little apartment in her compond. I will call it home for 11 weeks. There is a little stove to cook, a table, and of course my bed. Other than a home their job is to help me with French. Which despite all of my lack of hope is improving slightly. As for training, I am now alowed to ride zemis whiwh are small little motos. Okay, time for dinner. I am going to go home and eat!

Annie: I have tunned in. I'm going to try to make it a habit to read once a week. Would you rather me respond in the blog or get emails, or both? Let me know. your "home" for the next few weeks sounds great...what does the landscape look like? how are the clouds? the food? whats the first thing you hear in the morning? clue me in, i want to feel it through you. yes, a bit jealous i am.

i got to the parents' place tonight and will be kickin' it for the next few days around here. i leave for england on thursday.

talked to bibi paka today, one of her friends from highschool is doing the same english lacrosse program as me. so now i sorta have one new friend. she also told me that theo, nikki and megan are all living the lower parts of nyc and brooklyn. i'm going to try to get in touch with them before i leave.

Annie, it all sounds awesome so far. I'm quite jealous, and the jealousy keeps rising as I get more and more restless at home. Give us lots of details. And good luck with that French.
