So I gave up smoking… *again*.

My absolute favourite, favourite thing. Guess this makes me a “non smoker”. My view on non-smokers are mostly in-line with Bill Hicks’ most popular rants: “obnoxious, self-righteous fucks, my greatest fear is that if give up smoking I will become one of you.”

Still, this latest love affair with the demon weed could not last. Like returning to an ex-girlfriend it always gets ugly eventually. And it was getting ugly. A pack and a half a day was becoming a not unusual situation. First-thing-in-the-morning cigarettes. One-more-before-I-go-to-bed cigarettes. Stinking fingers, stinking clothes. Absolutely NO appetite whatsoever. It had to be stopped.

So… this morning’s 11am puff turned out to be the latest in a relatively long line of “last ever cigarettes”, and so far I’m feeling good about it. Liberated, actually.

…so liberated I went out and bought a digital camcorder from Amazon. Whoops. Looks like I’ve found a new addiction. Hey ho, maybe I’ll post some pictures of my rapid mental and physical decline once the cravings kick in. That’ll be fun!

As Mark Twain once said, "I'm not addicted, I've quit a thousand times."

Well good for you though... I quit smoking a while ago myself and though it was a bitch to do.. it was well worth it, and it doesn't turn you into an obnoxious, self-righteous fuck just by quitting, I think that's part of the normal human attitude that ya just have to have to fulfil

I'll tell ya one thing, that after a month or so of not smoking you will SERIOUSLY be amazed at how much better your lungs feel.

Best of luck quitting
