We'll Be Brand-New
Revelation 21:3-5
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
He who was seated on the throne said "I am making everything new!" The He said "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." Revelation 21:3-5
We work and work to control the more unseemly aspects of our personalities. We bend our wills to place the desires of others before our own. We avoid fat and eat fiber. Each day we rise and face a tug-of-war with temptation. But one day, we will be freed from the struggle! We'll be brand-new!
Revelation 21:5 summarizes the restoration each of us can expect in Christ: "I am making everything new!"
Elsewhere, Scripture refers to this restoration as touching many areas of our lives. In 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, Paul describes the new body we well receive. In 1 John 3:3, John tells us of the purified soul we will possess. And then in Revelation 21-22, we're given a glimpse of life that will include renewed relationships as we ourselves are renewed.
While we're here on earth, we'll go ahead and pump the weights, wrestle our tongues under control, and pray for patience. We'll need the workout on frequent basis. But take heart! One day, when we're with Christ, we'll be free of the battle and--Presto!--we'll be brand-new!
...since my "day job" is wife and mother, I don't think the family would be too thrilled at that idea!
