Beatles or Good Metallica....

Or how bout a mixture of both??

http://www.beatallica.com
Are you a Beatles fan? I am.. have been since I was in the womb I've been told... My parents would play John Lennon and the crew into her stomach when I was an "expected". I've listened to them since the earliest days I have memory of.

Then in 1988, at the ripe age of 7 years old, I was intraduced to Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" Album, and since then have been head thrashing metal fan. (Though, I think Metallica REALLY sold out after their self titled album but that's a different blog).

Now.....

A few months ago, I was given a link to a band of uknown members. Mainly unknown for legal reasons I'd say....

Now.. when I first read of it.. a mixture of Beatles songs and Metallica songs... I was very sceptical that it would even be worthwhile to download the songs and listen to em... (they are free that's how sceptical I was...) Yet, I decided what the hey, and downloaded em. I've been hooked since. They mix Metallica's Angst and old attitude with the classic riff's and stylings of the Beatles. It's all done in a Heavy Metal style, yet tuned for Beatles music.. I can't really explain it but it's done AMAZINGLY well.. and I think most of the credit goes to the Beatles for that because there music seems to have just transfered to a heavy metal style without a missed beat.

I should also mention the singer... The guy sounds almost EXACTLY like James from Metallica. It's pure uncanny just how much.

I'll warn ya though.. My Mom, a staunch Beatles fan, hated it.... My dad though, another staunch Beatles fan, loved it....

So mileage will vary for different tastes, but if your a fan of both bands chances are you'll really dig this. It's done respectfully, and as their own Tribute to both the Beatles and Metallica..... though chances are if you can't stand metal music, you won't much like this.. =/

My Suggested songs......

Hey Dude
Blackened in the USSR
I Want to Choke Your Band
The Thing that Should not Let it Be

Go check em out at the referenced link, Downloads of all their songs are 100% free.

Ah yes, Beatallica. Stumbled across their stuff a few months ago and was blown away by the dude on vox. Very, very good Hetfield clone. I found the music entertaining, but not something I would listen to often. Still, worth checking out.

Oh, and as a fellow metalhead I would love to read that blog on Metallica selling out.

The blending of songs together seems to be a popular trend in Europe. Do you know where it originated? In U.K., the singles they have already released copies of Dannii Minogue's "Begin to Spin Me Round," which is a combination of her song, "I Begin To Wonder" and Dead or Alive's "Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" A really popular one I came across was "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head," which is a combo of Kylie's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and New Order's "Blue Monday."

I am a Beatles fan, and while I am tempted to make a snide remark about the non-existence of "good metallica" just because they're in the same article as the Beatles, I actually have enjoyed a fair bit of their older stuff.
And I am a big fan of Weird Al-style twistings of things. The song titles alone look worth the price of entry. I'll definitely be checking them out.
