I live in what once was a nice lower middle class neighborhood in Chicago not far fron Midway airport. But times have changed or is it me? I have the distcinct feeling that respect for your neighbors is all but dead. The neighbor on one side of my house feels that the whole summer is one big party. He has speakers in his yard and seems to have one or two yard parites a week. I actually like his taste in music,(Oldies.) But to ber honest I don't like any music that loud! If my windows are closed and I can still hear your music it's too loud.
When the fourth of July comes watch out. My neighbor is a lso a fireworks junky. He starts blowing up things in June and continues through mid-July. Not just fire crackers but the big stuff. Stuff so loud that when he blows it off in the alley behind his house it sets his car alarm off in front of the house. On the fourth of July this goes on until midnight. Then comes my independence day celabration on the fifth of July. I have to spend the morning cleaning up the mess he made in my yard and alley.
Another neirghborhood ritual that he participates in the big dog on the porch. Some of my neighbors have pools in their yards leaving little room for a backyard. Then they go out and get a large dog with no where to keep it. So at least three of them keep their dogs unattended tied up on their front porch so when you walk down the block your attacked by a chorus of barking.
I'm just getting started. Let's trade bad neighbor stories if you are intrested drop me a note or post it.
