Charles W Sweeney,a retired Air force general who piloted the plane that dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki in the final days if World War II has died at the age 84.

Sweeney died on thursday last week at Massachusetts General hospital in Boston.
Sweeney was 25 when he piloted the B-29 bomber that attacked Nagasaki on August ( 1945 three days after the ENola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima & six days before Japan Surrendered. [World War II Alliance- Japan,Germany,Turkey vs.England,Russia,France,America & many more].

About 70000 people were killed in the explosion of the bomb dubbed "Fat Man". Incidently it was the first bomb Sweeney ever dropped on enemy target. Sweeney was outspoken defender of tyhe bombings,appearing on CNN & speaking at colleges & universities. He also wrote a book, " War's End":An Eyewitness Account of America's last Atomic mission,to counter what he considered "cockamine theories" that the bombing was unnecessary. Further added " I looked upon it as a duty,I just wanted the war to be over so we could get back home to our loved ones",Sweeney told The Patriot Ledger of Quincy in 1995."I hope my missions were the last ones of their kind that will ever be flown."
