You Should Have to Have A License to Procreate

It would never happen but it's still a good idea I think

I just wrote a blog about an unfit mother that I know but I guess I still have some more thoughts on the subject. Before of anyone thinks I am a facist lunatic hear me out. I have thought this way for a long time. I sometimes feel that you should have to apply for a license and go through a screening process before you are able to have a child. You have to do it when you adopt why not have to do it before having a child. I have not thought it out enough to make it plausible in any way but still it's an idea. I could site an million examples of why I feel this way but no one has that much time. But here are a few examples I have of why.

1. The couple that lives upstairs from me with a 5 month old baby. They are 20 and 24 years old. The scary part is that they planned this child. Her not having a job and him making $8 and hour. They barely can stand each other yet they brought a poor innocent child in the world without any means of taking care of her. What little money they have they spend on weed or coke. They recieve $400 a month in food stamps that they spend on pop and other crap. They fight and scream all the time right in front of the child. Hell they do it in front of me. She'll bring the baby down and ask me to watch her while she
takes a shower" which means to smoke a joint but I do it anways cause I have fallen in love with this beautiful little child. I fear for this childs future.

We support people like this all the time. I once applied for a clerical job at Job and Family services. In an enorumus line I saw more than one very young mother with at least two kids and a big pregnant belly. What the hell? I know that Planned Parenthood gives out low to no cost birth control. How hard is it to swallow a pill or put on a condom?

2. The woman I mentioned in the other blog I wrote. She became pregnant at 15 and now resents her child for not having a life. She is horrible to the poor thing. It sickens me.

I understand that accidents happen but there are people in this world that have children for the wrong reasons. To "make a marriage/relationship stronger". This generally makes things worse. Having a child can put a strain on even the most strong and stable of realtionships. To trap or keep a man. Hello! Wake up ladies, if he didn't want to be with you before getting pregnant with a child he sure as hell isnt gonna change his mind. Some people just keep popping out kids because they know that the goverment is going to take care of them and their kids. Get out, make something of yourself damn it!

I know that there are people out there that have had kids and are having a hard time making it, but are still good parents. I give you mad props because that is how my parents had it but even they agree with me on this. There are so many loving couples out there that cannot have children. Meanwhile there are people having kids and dumping them in garbage cans to die.

I hope someday things will change for the better on this subject. It may not be in my lifetime or even in the next generations lifetime but I hope someday we wake up and relieze what we are doing to our future when we bring children into this world that we can't make a good life for.

I think this is a horrible idea. One of the key problems will be, honest parents who don't feel the government has any business running their personal lives (myself included), will be more on the run than we are from authoritarian government (as the obvious penalty would be the removal of an unlicensed child from the home).

This would also result in a great number of women not getting prenatal care for fear of being turned in, and numerous deaths and birth defects among "unlicensed" children.

I understand the emotion that drives questions such as this; however, I truly fear the fact that I am seeing more and more Americans practically beg for such totalitarianism. I could do a whole blog on the potential fallout from such legislation.

You are right. The blog was mostly wrote in anger and jest but some people should not be allowed to have kids. Of course it wouldn't be the "land of the free" if we did impose laws like that. I do believe however that there should be much stricter guidlines for the medicaid and welfare system. There are too many people freeloading who are very capable of working. But thats a whole different blog.

Yes, I well understand. I have been following the saga on your blogs, and I feel badly for the child. The counselor and minister in me, however, can't help but feel sorry for the mother as well, and I pray that someone, somehow can find a way to reach this woman. Maybe it will take the removal of her child, though (and don't get me wrong; in instances such as these, the child's interest should CLEARLY supercede the mother's).

Looks can be deceiving sometimes, though. My wife and I have been married for nine years, she still is guaranteed to get carded if she purchases alcohol (which she almost never does unless she wants the ego boost), and she's...well, I ain't telling; suffice it to say, she's definitely old enough to not get carded.
