Downloading via Stardock - are my components then automatically installed?

A bit of a newbie question I know, and I couldn't find any information via a quick search. I've installed the Stardock manager and downloaded the bonus pack. Is the bonus pack now installed, or do I have to do something? And why is the Stardock bonus pack only about 1 Meg, whereas the download bonus pack is 7 Meg? Is there any way to tell from within GalCiv whioh version you're running or which updates you have installed? Questions upon questions...
