All civs start in same area of space.

This really sucks! I start a game and the computer players are RIGHT there next to me, i would say MOST of the time at least one civ will have there homeworld RIGHT next to mine! How do I get it so the civs all start at a different corner?!

You can't control starting positions but you can always hit ctrl + n to load a different map without having to go back to the menu.

I have this happen about half the time. I've started Large and Gigantic games with tight clusters, and usually at least one civ will be right next door. I had one game on Large in which all the civs were my immediate neighbors, which forced(1) me to annihilate one (and drive the other to surrendering after I took half their worlds).

(1) If they didn't want to get wiped out, they should've moved about eight or so sectors away from me.
