Help! "Stardock has created an error in STARDOCK.EXE"

This is the first time I''ve ever posted on a message board of any sort, so please forgive any lapses in etiquette which I may or may not exhibit.

First off, I'm a huge fan of this game. It approaches perfection in nearly every quality which I feel a computer game should posess. The care which the development team has and continues to lavish on this project is thoroughly evident in it's quality. I hope you sell millions of copies and become very rich people.

Now, for my gripe. I would really like to recieve incremental updates to the software, but I've been unable to get stardock central to function correctly. Every version has generated the error shown in the subject line as soon as I try to run it, and none of the normal fixes seem to be working (reinstalling, closing EVERY non-essential background program, rebooting, etc...). I am running:

WinME
Athlon 1.2 GHz
SB Audigy
Radeon 8500
Via 686 chipset

I have microsoft Visual C++ installed and can start a debugger when the above error is generated if that would help anyone (I'm not a programmer, I'm simply a dabbler who has enough extra money lying around to buy copies of Visual C++ for no good reason. I don't really know what any of the output from the debugger means). It seems to mention something about an unhandled exception at a particular memory address. Let me know if you want any of that stuff.

Thanks again for the great game, and I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be able to help me.

Please install http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentralrc5.exe so we can be sure of the build you're working with. There were definitely some issues with older builds on 9x platforms, but afaik we're caught up on crashing ones.

Add http://www.stardock.com/temp/smartexception_galciv.exe and run that. If sdcentral.exe blows out, there should be a crashlog in \program files\common files\stardock\smartexception\sdcentral.exe.cra. Please email this to [email protected].
