Looking for a view from outside the USA??

(ESPECIALLY FOR NON-US RESIDENTS AND CITIZENS) I've been hearing alot of very negative allegations, name calling, etc... from outside this great nation. Popularity amongst the global community is not one of The United States of America's biggest assets right now. Can anyone please tell me exactly why you like/dislike us. Also, somewhere in your comments I would love to know, if that dislike or hate for us is so strong, that you would not rather raise a family in the USA, than anywhere else in the world.

Well I think there are definitely various events that are fueling anti-american sentiment.  The most blatant of course is our invasion of Iraq which many believe is unjustified.  The Iraq prison abuse is one of the main reasons which tainted our humanitarian cause.  The U.S. unilateral entrance into this war was not very popular in the international community.  On a personal note I appreciate living in the U.S. knowing the opportunities I have been given and the freedom which is afforded.  We have always been willing to assist other nations when we can even if it merits no possible gain for the U.S.

Anti-American sentiment was very strong before this even happened... it was very strong before Sept 11... thats why Sept 11 happened...

I am at work right now, so I dont have the 4 hours necessary to point out my personal dislikes of the US... it mainly centres around foreign policy, and the total lack of altruistic sentiment from within...

One thing about this blogging commnunity though... before I joined, I was a hater of all things USA... now I know better, and realise that my hate can be dispersed factionally...

BAM!!!

I'll answer this with a question: was America this unpopular before George W. Bush came to power? I think a lot of the negative feelings toward America are the product of Bush's policies. I know here in Canada anti American sentiment is a mile wide and a inch deep, it's pretty benign when you get down to it. It seems we can agree on 99 things but when we disagree on the 100th thing then Americans get all worked up. I'm not sure I'd want to raise a family in Canada, let alone USA. Asians seem much better at raising families these days...
