Vegetarian Times

mm mm good

Ok now I am playing with the font and size. This is definitely not that interesting for a blog. Let's talk about Vegetarian Times, the oh so tasty magazine I subscribe to. Am I a vegetarian? Only when I eat vegetables and vegetarian meals, however that doesn't stop me from experiencing the "other side." When I first subscribed, I was skeptical, especially since I also subscribed to Food and Wine magazine. I decided, as one who delights in experimental cooking and baking, I would give it a shot. Now I am hooked to Veg, Times and I will continue to subscribe. Don't be down on vegetarians! In A Cook's Tour, Anthony Bourdain wrote that one of his worst culinary experiences during his travels involved an all vegetarian dinner. He felt the food was not cooked properly, the vegetables were abused, etc. Whenever I read that part, I wonder who the heck these vegetarians were! The meals I have prepared and tasted are interesting and delightful. Although, I will admit, there have been some real duds (i.e.the tofu pudding I made was terrible). I think there is a particular stigma attached to people who enjoy a good vegetarian meal or choose to be vegetarian for whatever reason. I say celebrate being a vegetarian or enjoying the variety of a vegetarian cuisine.

I get Vegetarian Times.  I like to eat vegetarian, but sometimes it doesn't work out   I like the magazine for it's recipes, but the "carrot and stick" column is usually irritating.

If nothing else, it broadens your views on how you can prepare veggies.

Just like any other type of cuisine, there's the good and the bad. Some of the best meals I've eaten have been vegetarian, and some of the worst.

I remember a particularly disgusting avacado sandwich. Bleck!

But I've also had fabulous Maqbooleh made without the chicken (ie. vegetarian). One of the best meals ever--but you've got to like eggplant.

A vegetarian is a hunter that fails.....hahahaha. I think being able to poke fun at both sides (especially since I support both) of the coin is a good thing-as long as it doesn't get too nasty (i.e. the folks at PETA at times)

Mmm...i eat meat but i admit, i prefer my greens. nothing beats a nice roasted veg stir fry but i must admit, tofu is just plain horrible. it quivers and im not sure that its fish or cheese like. Anyways, cool article.
