bought the game through sdc, no cdkey?

i bought the game through the website using tokens, and it gave me a serial number and i've registered the game to my sdc. but, is there no cdkey? or is the serial number the same as the cdkey?

if so, how come i cannot create an online account? (attempts to do so give me a "Disconnect from Ironclad server" after about 1 minute)

I'm assuming you know about and how to use SDC to manage your software. Is this so? If not you need to go to Stardock's main web page and locate their free download of SDC (Stardock Central). Once you confirm your registration (There's a button on the bottom right marked Registration Info, click it, Choose games, in Product toggle down to SoSE, input the serial number you were given, click on update). Your copy of SoSE should then be registered. You use the same serial number to create an Ironclad account. :)

I can use that serial number to create the ironclad account online through the game? if so I have tried that and after a minute or so it responds with "Disconnected from Ironclad server."

is that the proper method?

That method worked for me although it did take a couple of tries. When you click on the create a new account button it should prompt you for a user ID, try a different one in case the one you tried is already in use, a password and then when you submit it should, if I recall right prompt you for the CD key which is the serial number you were sent in the email. Use copy and paste(clipboard) to get it right. If not, I think the server may be having some type of issue perhaps? :NOTSURE:

When I click on Create a new account, it asks for Username, Password, and CD-Key all in one screen. I've tried with numerous accounts now, and I keep getting a "Disconnected from Ironclad server" screen.

It'd be helpful if there were more return prompts from the game, e.g. serial key wrong? can't connect to the server? username taken?

It's not quite informative :'(

The cd-key is the 30 letter/number combination right? and I should include the dashes?

Yes, the serial is the same as the cdkey. If you're getting ICO disconnects, make sure that you don't have a firewall popup in the background, and that your router is not blocking port 6000.

Is having a blocked port the same as it not being open?

ICO was acting up this morning. I got several disconnects. I don't know if it's gotten better as I have not played yet since then.

hmm, still can't create an account today :(

single player is quite fun, but i can only imagine what multiplayer would be like :P

anyone else having problems? or is it still just me?
