"Build Time: Never"...no one will build anything? :(

Hey guys,

I haven't been playing the game very long, but I started my second game today as the Terrans in Dark Avatar, and I've noticed that on all my colonies (I have 6), and even on Earth, every improvement I try and build on a green 'acceptable' tile has a completion time of "Never". I've researched the required "Xeno (X)" techs to build on my colonies, and still everything says it will "Never" be built.

I'm sure the answer must be obvious, but I'm just overlooking it. Any help for a n00b would be great. Thanks!

You might want to turn up your social production slider.

Yep, could be your social production slider is set to zero. Another possibility is that your treasury has dipped too far in the negative, in which case all production will automatically cease until you get things back in order.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've ALWAYS seen that "issue". Whenever I highlight (single-click) an improvement (any given one) it always says "Build Time: Never" in the details box. But when I add it to the build queue with a double-click, it's given an actual build time value.

I have always ignored it, and dismissed it as a tiny in-game flaw with no subsequent impact on gameplay. If I need to truly find out the build time for an improvement on a particular planet, I just add it to the queue, then cancel it off if it's too excessive. The only time I ever worry about doing that even, is if it's a Galactic Achievement (or some other urgently needed structure), and I don't want to risk a lack of civ-based bonuses and/or improvement ownership.
