ObjectDock and Systray

I can't get the systray to load. I purchased version 1.90 plus, build 535U today. I tell it to load the dock, but nothing happens.

Am I supposed to have this sdmcp.exe program? I don't see it on my PC.

I'm running xp pro.

Add this - it DOES work when I'm logged in as an administrator, but not when I'm logged in as a regular user. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

More information - giving myself (the user) permission on the folder and files and subfolders doesn't help.

Also, the start button DOES work as an administrator, and DOES NOT work as a user.

Can't solve your problem, but I can let you know that what you're seeing with the systray is how it works for me as well (XPHomeSP2). I don't really know, but I've assumed that limited users don't have access rights to the system services required to feed the dock. You will probably also find that, while in a limited user, if you start up Object Dock using the "Run As" option with Admin's login, the systray dock will load up.

Sounds like the start button has the same limitation.

I know XP Pro is more configurable than XP Home in terms of user rights, you may be able to fine tune them to get it to work the way you want, don't know.

I know, not a great answer, but I wanted to let you know that as far as I can tell "yes, that's how the systray dock works." Maybe later somebody will come in with a better fix than "Run As" (which I don't use by the way, don't want the systray dock that bad.)

Oh, I forgot the basic. If you want to just ask Stardock Support about it, here's the link:

WWW Link

and refer to this thread so you don't have to start all over again.

I've never asked them about it.

I was able to replicate this issue with XP. Are you using ? Also did you ever uninstall the free version before installing the Plus version? Either way I am going to explore this further and report to the devs.

Seabass-

He says he's using XP Pro (no mention of 32 or 64), I'm on XPHomeSP2. I've never had OD free loaded since my last XP re-load (hard drive replacement).

(Careful, I may end up with yet another OD toy to play with!!    )

Ok I am going to run through this tomorrow morning with the test machines at work. I will bring up anything I can find to the developers and any fixes I can find to your guys.
