What do You Consider the "Core Sites" Of the Community?

Skinning.net is the only other skinning site I visit regularly (and that's pretty infrequently and usually jsut to get a link to a tut)
dA I'll go to once or twice a month (maybe)
I think I'm a member of skinartistry . . . but it's been so long that I'm no longer sure.

I use this site exclusively.   
I got tired of all the pop ups and ads that all of the other sites have. I also hate going through all of the crap to get to the good stuff that other sites have to offer.

Yeah, wincustomize my homepage, visit every day.
Maxstyles every day.
Im visit more ,Deviantart and Skinning dot net too, on a daily basis.
Neowin and Skinbase weekly.

Here, MaxStyle and DA are the ones I hit every day. Of them, I'd say this is the core.

I use this site exclusively for skins and check out DA more for the art or wallpapers occasionally.

I have issues with DA ... so , after I got blasted by a coupla' Trojans a while back , I don't bother .... also (present company accepted) it always appears to be full of bucketmouths and bad attitudes .. and rip merchants (must be getting old ...   )

Here. I came across desktop customizing by chance, the trial version of WindowBlinds. I believe it was 4.5. I go to Desktop Sidebar for their skins. Everything else I find here. I know, not very adverturous. :NOTSURE: 

Here of course. I make the rounds to various sites looking for wallpapers about once a month and that's it. Everything I need is right here.

Yep yep... I visit Wincustomize Very often. I visit it at least 3-4 times a day. I LOVE the Toolbar too that is so handy.


I used to peruse DeviantArt alot but I don't now. I stick to Wincustomize and other Stardock sites and ONLY go elsewhere if there is a Specific thing *icon set, wallpaper, logon, blind ect* that I am Really lookin for and for some weird reason Wincustomize doesn't have it. Which is very rare because of the VAST library that Wincustomize has

I am very happy with Stardock and will have continued service for quite some time.

I feel that Wincustomize.com is the BEST site out there. Its my fav and most frequented site

I visit Wincustomize several times every day. I check out Skinbase sometimes and DA sometimes. For the most up to date info and highest quality products nothing I've found beats WC. Last but not least, the people here are the finest the net has to offer.

WinCustomize is the premiere skinning site today.

DeviantArt used to be a good site, but their focus changed some time ago. I wouldn't even consider them a "skinning" site these days. In fact, I won't even go to "dAt" other place anymore, and I was there for a long, long time.

If I'm looking for a skin or a wallpaper, I come here. Period.

It'd be interestign to see this "poll" on some of the other sites.
Asking here has a built in bias. 

My goal was more to see where people were spending their time in addition to WC.  We know you're here... you're posting afterall 

Sites like customize.org recently came back from the dead, skinz.org is technically functioning but not much is happening there.  I'm wondering if there's some community out there that we should maybe work with in the future... and to see what others are doing well that we might learn from.

Almost exclusively WinCustomize but I like the widescreen wallpapers on Interfacelift so I visit there occasionaly too.
I wish WinCustomize would add a sub-gallery for w.s. walls.

I do occasionally miss the days of Customize.org,Razorart,desktopmod,skinz.org,Sonique.net,etc. Those were the some of the founding sites that really helped launch desktop customization, From which came names still hold a special place among the customization community, Dangeruss,Thredz,Doodle,Lonerunnr,Floach,Wreklesseric,to name a few.


Skinz.org, Customize.org and Razorart were my main pages, til upheavals ensued and the sites either died or became places I didn't want to frequent.

Wincustomize has grown to become the main staple of the desktop customization community, and my home page for skinning. The first site since LiteStep (or SimpleStep as it was called back then) that I actually felt compelled to become an active member.

Deviantart,I use for finding off site stuff.

Artists home sites like Boxxis,Pixtudio, etc.for releases not upped here.

LS.net just for old times sake...

I also go to the apps main page for the occasional skin not upped here. Example: winamp.com

There is also a few sites I frequent just to say hi to pals and offer some support.
Skinartisty,Shaunna's Selections,etc..

Sigh....if only we could work 'better' with Devart....;p

Usually the only time I'm offsite...at the other skin sites is when some 'issue' arises... eg. rips, etc.

Otherwise HG_E covered it well...;)

Well....I pretty much live a sheltered life I guess when it comes to skinning or customization. I spend 95% of my time here...but go off site for wallpapers and the occasional odd icon.
