The Many Faces of WinCustomize

How do you access your skins?

WinCustomize is a large and complex site with pages upon pages of content, and dozens of different ways to sort and view that content.  It's so much that it can be overwhelming for even the most seasoned site veteran.  Heck, internally we have trouble remembering all the different pages that exist sometimes.

The single biggest offender of the multiple paths issue is the skins page... skins.aspx.  If you ever look at the address bar of your browser as you bounce around the site, you'll see that you're usually on some skins.aspx page, even if the view looks completely different from page to page.

What I would like to know is, does anyone actually use all of these different views, or are there two or three pages that everyone hits and the others are just forgotten/useless.

Here are the major views to skins.aspx (excluding the individual skin page)

Which pages do you find yourself using the most?  The least?  Are there any we could safely eliminate, or is there a really obvious view we're completely missing?  Let us know

Individual Library View is all I use.

I always start at the newest skins per gallery and will link to the individual libraries from there if I need to.

This link:

Top Master Skins
https://www.wincustomize.com/top.aspx?type=premiumskins

does not show premium skins when i click it. Instead it shows the same view as if you click this link:

Most Popular Skins
https://www.wincustomize.com/top.aspx

Personally I use the Wincustomize.com link on ObjectDock to get to the home page and from there check the newest news and then use the Gallery sidebar to get to the individual libraries.

I think it really depends on how often you are here.  :)
If you live here, like I do, seeing the newest is seeing everything . . because it has to go through newest at some point right?
But if you pop in less frequesntly the individual libraries make sense so you can see what you "missed".

I keep going to most popular even though I can almost always tell what's goin to be there a week after it passes through "Newest".  I do have to admit to looking once in a while to find teh oldest "Most Popular" skins are (like Copperdeck and Mac OS Tiger [with only 2.5 stars] from 2005 and Cyberskin from 2004).  ;)

I use the Newest Skins by Gallery to see what's new in whatever gallery I'm interested in at that moment, and I use Top Master Skins to see what new Master skins are out there.

I frequent all of those pages. They are all useful for quickly finding items of interest.

Recently updated skins I check from time to time to look for new versions of skins I have previously downloaded. Recently featured skins I use to check for popular items that I have put off downloading until a later time. Top Master Skins I check because it is easier to find Master Skins quickly here than it is to find them by searching the respective gallery.

I'm also less likely to forget something that caught my interest and left to a mental note to stop in for a closer look later. This is because the galleries are so extensive that downloading everything when I first see it is impossible. These above mentioned links make finding specific items of interest much quicker and easier.

In order.

https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?updated

If I am looking for an item in a specific gallery, I will go to the gallery and use the search or categories to further refine.

Well since I use the WCBrowser for skins on a daily basis, I would have to say Newest is the first and most important page I browse.

I always start with Home Page to see what's cooking!

Then individual Library Views.

Suggestion: Could it be made possible to go to a particular page in each view for Bookmarking purposes?
