enough is enough

I've been a customer for several years now. I got windowblinds when it was version 1.1. Thought it was kinda silly, but paid extra to upgrade from 1x to 2x, 2x to 3x, 3x to 4x, and again from 4x to 5x. I added iconpackager along the way as well. but i guess i haven't spent enough money to suit stardock, since i can't download any thing else from wincustomize without buying a subscription, or purchasing object desktop, or whatever. well, enough is enough. I have uninstalled everything stardock from my pc and i refuse to give you any more of my hard earned money. thanks to all of you talented skinners out there who have brightened my desktop all these years.

WC though partly funded from Stardock is a separate entity and is expected to be self-sufficient

nowhere did SD promise us unlimited downloads here or anywhere for life

Okay, sounds fair.

You do realize that you didn't need to uninstall the software. You could continue to use it with what ever skins you had downloaded. You just are not going to get any updates to the software unless you decide to pay for a subscription.

The $ we pay each year ensures the constant upgrade's/development of the programs as well as pays for new ones to be built and helps pay for this site's servers Etc..

Most Software is this way, it ensures a longer Company life as people typically dont work for free. Show me a software that touts a "one time only fee" and il show you a company that will be probably be stopping development and dropping support as soon as sales slow (they typically do).

Paying to keep the Devs working, is not a bad thing ..Even if a few on the Internet seem to think it is.....

AAHH...now I remember...this software is subscription...hmmmm...better start saving :D. HG_Eliminator is right, though. Not many companies stick around if they don't have a continuous, steady cash-flow. F.E. Check the PDA software and the PC game industries. I have a feeling I'll be paying for Stardock's Object Desktop 'til I'm old and gray...Add to which, the fact that my windows customize subscription lasts until 2012...I HATE plain XP and Vista, now. Only started work again on Monday, and already I hate my PC...gotta somehow get WindowsBlinds on there without the boss ever knowing...unfortunately he sits behind me.

By subscription, you really ARE supporting a software company. And I think Stardock releases quite enough free stuff anyway.
