A helpful guide

IconPackager is one of those applications that once you use it, you probably can't do without.  After just a few days with it, I was loathe to use any Windows PC with the default icons.  They just seemed so boring & plain.  IconPackager is actually a very powerful application with a lot of options and ways to mix and match your favorite icons.  But most people don't know their way around the app outside of loading and applying an icon pack.

To help with this, Island Dog has written up an IconPackager 3.2 Basics article taking you through some of the more useful basic features of the tool you might not know about.

How come document folder won't change. Probably does in XP but not in Vista.. Am I missing something? The one in screenshot does nicon vista but not any of the other ones..I mean I can change it manually but doesn't do it on it's own. That's too bad..

The nicon vista one does it's just most of the other ones that don't try it and let me know..I have slicer vista, local flavor vista, farawaydreamvista, nikon vista, they change but not the other ones like lets say one of the new ones submitted, they don't change, at least for me they don't..

I wonder if the Vista icon structure and the XP are so different that skinning using an XP set doesn't skin similar icons for Vista.  I think as more people switch over to Vista we'll see more complete sets.  Brad posted a few times how much more work Vista icons were to do.  Poor artists.

What's the last icon pack you applied that "didn't work"?

I applied the same pack and have a bunch of Vista icons that are not skinned.
I'm still betting different icon definitions.
