3rd WC Community Skinning Contest

Looking for Sponsors and Judges

from WinCustomize Forums
Hi Fellows,
A while ago, WC Community bound together and hold two great two great Community Skinning Contests. Now, I think it is time for an other contest for community by community.

Expected Start Date: 15-Fab-2008
Expected End Date: 15-March-2008

Proposed Categories: WB, Object Dock, and Wallpaper.

Sponsorships so far:
- Philly0381: ODNT Subscription
- WebGizmos: A copy ObjectDock+
- I (BX): A WC Sub + ODNT Sub

As you can see, at least 6 more sponsorships and a handful of judges are needed. If you have an offer for sponsorship, kindly post here or contact me at the email address given below.

If you want to be judge, you can contact me at the email given below. Remember you MUST be at-least a Master Apprentice if you want to be a judge.

I'm not a skinner, but that would seem to then have three categories that are egual as far as amount of time and effort needed to put a skin together. Docks and Wallpapers are nice and I'm sure some folks may say as hard to make. :NOTSURE:

I will be helping BX with the contest, with what little expertise that I have, which is slim.  :LOL: 

It looks like we can expand the contest from 3 to 4 categories. I'm going to suggest:

1. WindowBlind
2. Icon Package
3. CursorXP (FX?)
4. ObjectDock

What that does is drop Wallpapers and add Cursor and ObjectDock. Has does that sound to everyone?

These are good categories that generate a lot of interest. Wallpapers also generate a lot of interest and like someone said earlier, would probably get flooded and mean a lot of work for any judging. I think you should consider adding a Xion category also though.

The adding of a 4th category was able to be done because of the responses that were received asking for sponsors.

Adding a 5th category could be done but now we enter into an area that may cause the need for more judges and possibly extend the time it will take to judge the entries.

If you look at the categories as now suggested, it pretty well represents what might be called a basic Desktop. Yes, people do use other element like objects, widgets and audio players. Maybe the next contest, oh yea there will be more, can be for the those other elements.

Okay, before anyone hits me eggs and cream pies I want to retrack my comment I made in reply # 37. That was just dumb! (:( 

Anyone making a skin for anything be it Xion, Wallpaper etc. has to put in the time, expend the effort and have the talent and ability to do so.

I will know take a moment to grab a bar of soap and bit down on it.  ;)

Is everyone involved in this. Meaning Apprentice,Masters the higher up in the skinning world. If I recall they weren't allowed to participate in the last contest.

Haven't seen anything of what the rules will be yet from BX. The first thing was getting enough sponsors, then enough folks to volunteer to be judges. I'm sure rules for who is eligible to enter the contest will be forthcomming.
