What Else Do You Customize?

Cars? Cases? Model kits?

Every day here, we talk about Windows customization.  Skinning the Windows UI, changing icons, tweaking performance, adding animation, giving everything a different look and feel.  However, there's an entire world of customization out there beyond your PC.

In the past, I've posted about cool case modifications, hand-made mice, weird desks etc.  We've seen all the cool stuff OTHER people do, but I'm wondering what all YOU do that isn't Windows skinning.

Do you mod your car?  PC case?  Build strange lawn ornaments?  Let us know what else in your life you customize, tweak or otherwise make your own in a unique and interesting way.  If you have photos, post them! (But please, keep them clean)

Yep, this is a Risk board I made. The orig is 9600x4800 px, and the actual board is 2' x 4'
Right now I use the normal Risk pieces, but I'm working on my own. I got exotic woods: tiger wood, zebra wood, blood wood, purple heart, and some regular old maple for lighter coloured pieces. For the black pieces I wanted some ebony, but it's REALLY expensive, so I got some katalox and stained it. Already have most of them cut, just have to finish and polish them. Then I will make some wooden dice and probably gold leaf the pips. Then all thats left is the cards. :)

When I'm not pounding on my puter, I find new ways to redefine and customize my drum kit. I've integrated electric percussions with triggers, a multipad and a module with over 500 sounds and 25 kits.

My cymbal array is all (guess what?) Zildjian A Customs!

I have two O2 Xda IIs (HTC Blue Angels) that I like to play around and tinker with.

The first, I bought from a workmate a few years ago at half-retail price at the time. It was well worth it but its structural integrity began deteriorating and screws began falling off although it remained functional. Then a few months ago I purchased a second one from eBay.
I use my old one as a test subject for my hair-brained experiments, then when all works ok and doesn't end up bricking it, I transfer to my newer everyday model.

I recently flashed the ROM and updated it to Windows Mobile 6 thanks to the peeps at Xda developer forums, and added some further applications, tweaks and GUI enhancements, including a TouchFLO-like application for WM6 devices, called PointUI.
I also like to skin these devices with any cool WM6 skins I find during my virtual excursions.

Here's a preview of the pieces. It's hard to tell the difference between them because of the flash, but in natural light they all look different. I've cut about 200 pieces for each type of wood.

Boxxi, those guitars are awsome!

Man, if I had a themeable phone I would skin it.
