Object Desktop 08???

estimated release?

Hi there :)

Good news.. I am getting the money together come Tax return and I am going to actually upgrade to Object Desktop shortly :) I am really excited.

I have a few questions though. Firstly, when is Object Desktop 2008 due out?

I am tryin to decide if it would be better for me to wait for 08 to buy Object Desktop or to go ahead and buy 07 and then upgrade when 08 comes out..

Also

My System

Vista Ulitimate
2.2 ghz dual core processor
2 gigs of Ram
Nvidia GE Force LE 7300 256 Video Ram (plannin on upgrading with Tax return)
2 HDs @ 250 gigs
1 HD @ 80 gig

and so Further, I am currently using WB 6, Desktop X 3.5, IP and Cursor XP and lastly Object Dock 1.9

I was wondering if there was anything in Object Desktop that might not be compatiable with Vista..

I appreciate Stardock's patience with this and would greatly appreciate any advice :)

thanks

Anne

I'm planning on renewing my sub to ODNT, even though it's good through October '08. Better safe than sorry. The way my luck runs, my sub will run out and ODNT '08 will come out the next day.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I appreciate it :)

hum another question..

Since I have WB, IP and Cursor XP on my system when I do upgrade to Object Desktop, should I delete all my stardock programs? Or would it be better to leave my system alone and just install Object Desktop and let it overrite whatever it might need to?

Again thanks everyone for the advice :)

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think once you get Object Desktop and register it should recognize the other programs that you have that are part of Object Desktop and show if there are any updates available. Are you currently running SDC?

AnneMarie, it shouldn't be a problem, but use SDC to install anyway. As for CursorXP/FX, it's a stand-alone product anyway and is not considered part of ObjectDesktop.

ah okay killa.. thanks

and Yeah I am definitely using SDC now and have been ever since I subscribed last year. That is if you mean Stardock Central.

Hum and I am still curious about when OD 2008 will come out.. but its no big deal :)

I will keep an eye on this post thanks again for all the advice :)

Okay I broke down and bought Object Desktop last night.

Other than SDC giving me some issues installing things and IP needing to be "readjusted" cause I updated it, everything is fixed and going well so far.

I am still getting used to some of the programs that are NEW to me such as right click and Sound Packager but I am glad to have purchased it and look forward to messing with all the programs and future updates :)

AnneMarie something tells me you won't ever regret buying Object Desktop. Now start using some of the programs, fix up a desktop like you want and post a ScreenShot to the Library. Come on you can do it.  ;)

Remember that Object Desktop 2008 isn't really relevant for digital downloads.  Object Desktop 2008 will be a "master" image of what products are available at that time.  As long as your subscription is active you will get all the new software, and any updates during that time.
