Oh Happy Day!

(as usual)

I got an infection in one of my teeth 3 days ago. The agony slowly built to an incredulous crescendo today, so much so that I had to try and find a dentist to help me....... on Christmas Eve...........

I ended up at the local dentistry hospital where student dentists practice on you, but you don't have to pay. They decided it would be a good idea to let a student practice an extraction.

So, I now have a huge, profusely bleeding hole in my mouth, which is only marginally less painful than the infected tooth. I can't wait to try and eat my Christmas dinner tomorrow, before I go back to work........ And people wonder why I hate Christmas. It usually reserves something really cool for me like this every year.

And to top it all off, my Christmas present, a super duper new widescreen monitor, didn't arrive. So it's gonna be new year before THAT arrives.

Merry Christmas BoXXi....................... NOT!!!!

BoXXi - now that is what I call a bad day - I do hope you get to feeling better and perhaps salvage some good things out of all of it. I am sorry to hear of your challenges but it sounds like you needed to get things taken care of - infections such as that can get very bad very quickly.

I always take note of the fact that there is always someone far worse off.

Merry Christmas.

LOL, I'm sorry BoXXi you have my sympathies but that's the kind of that happens to me too. I have to laugh some, I hope your.....HOLE situation gets better! Rad

Look at the bright side (if you can), at least it didn't happen on Christmas Day! Hope you feel better soon. Merry Christmas!

OK, so maybe it is....but you don't need every man and his dog telling you, now do you? ....;)

Pair of pliers - preferable to any student ;)

Yeah, coulda been worse, your screen could have come and been broken....

..or the screen had an infection ...and they had to extract that.

Try prising that outta Bryan's hands ....I think you'd have more luck grabbing a bone from a pitbull.

Merry Christmas mate, just the same. Hope it gets better. ;)

I just gotta top that.

Hmmmmmmmmm...I had a toothache also but no transportation to even a free dentist...so I stripped a speaker wire down to the metal wire...twisted it around the base of the tooth and spent an hour working up the nerve to pull harder each time.Sweet relief!

Got up at 5 this morning to stand in line at a dental office that was providing 70 people with a free dentist visit(I was #57).I missed the bus and rode my bicycle in 19 degree weather.Stood in line til 11:30 and all they would do for me was a cleaning despite their advertising free fillings.

No christmas dinner tomorrow...and no new monitor either...delivered or not.

But I have a half bottle of rum and smokes. ;) Merry Xmas Wincustomize! :D

Same here I.R., same here. Christmas consists of just me and my dog this year. Oh well, it could be worse. I could have a hole in my mouth! Merry Christmas BoXXi!

Sorry to hear about your exploits, Bryan. Merry Xmas to you and the family.  :)

IR, Mike did you go to Comfort Dentists? I heard their ad on the radio. On the Christmas Dinner front we'll make up for that on Friday, if you're free? Shall we do the Ritz or the Hilton this time?    ;)

I know how ya feel Bryan....I'm in the same boat as far as having a need for a tooth pulled. Haven't decided which route I'm gonna take yet though in removing it. If I can find a pair of pliers I can retool to grab it I'll probably do that. The clinic I was using decided to raise they're cost to thay of all the other dentists...and over here they have no understanding of pain...so they make you an appointment for months from now. I was even searching the net for a used set of extractors. ;p

You're not entirely alone.

Yesterday my Wife was out with the car visiting family. I'm the family chef - just put large roast in oven, vegetables being prepared etc, when dog is struck very suddenly with vestibular syndrome.

Imagine symptoms like very drunken sailor crossed with vertigo and recurrent petit mal fits, eyes darting madly from side to side, not pleasant at all.

Poor thing couldn't stand, was throwing up all over.. absolute chaos. I had no transport, the vet couldn't do anything for another 2 hours anyway as she was operating. I've got a full Xmas dinner that's already under way and which I'm now committed to preparing with one hand, while shovelling puke into a bin liner with the other. At the same time I need to prioritise keeping a very confused dog still & quiet....

Poor girl is now in recovery after spending last night and today in the veterinary clinic. Hope to get her back safely tomorrow.

Turns out Christmas, like life, is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".

I hope you don't get "Dry Socket". My wife had that and it's no fun. My advice for a couple of days: Drugs and Booze.

Sorry to hear about your dental woes, BoXXi.  ;)

Alternate Setting, I can relate to the trouble your dog is having ... I've been struggling with Meniere's Disease for a while now ... and naturally it flares up right before Christmas.  (:(

I've had issues with that since an injury a few years ago... and Xmas morning I woke up with painful middle ear problems to go with it. Felt like total crap... like nauseous, light-headed and dizzy, so until 8.30pm, my Christmas Day was spent in bed feeling rather unwell. Apparently I have a non-malignant tumor that's attached to the outer side of my right ear canal, thus causing ENT problems I'd rather be without.

Still, it could be worse...there's many worse off than I, and I'm determined to enjoy a healthy serving of Chrissy pud with custard and a large dollop of ice cream.... bugger the diet. :d

Starkers, they can take care of that fairly easy with a non-surgical procedure called XKnife.

I used to do that with dental floss when I had a loose tooth...ah, the day's of yore....

My wife started Christmas with Bronchitis...if that helps any :NOTSURE:  ;p
