Ok folks need some help here. I have CursorXP Plus, just what do I do, wait for an email or download the free/trial version or what? I used the link and am sorry to say I got confused.

Really nice.

I ran into a couple of problems (all reported to support):
- No cursor on secure desktop (UAC prompts)
- CTRL-SHIFT-C kills CursorFX.exe but does not restore the default Windows cursor
- Control panel transitions show parts of the cursor preview.

Is the final release going to bring Vista x64 support?

Anyone having issues ordering using their previous XP serial? It keeps giving me an error.. (:(

I do not care about this.
- CTRL-SHIFT-C kills CursorFX.exe but does not restore the default Windows cursor
Cursor XP has the same issue.

I am using SnagIt, and find that Cursor XP is not compatible with it. When I try to capture a screenshot, I cannot get rid of the cursor anyway. Please fix this in CursorFX, or else I have to uninstall this lovely software.

the upgrade isn't taking my serial number either.

On Vista maybe, but IIRC on XP, CTRL-SHIFT-C would disable CursorXP temporarily and bring it back when pressed again.

As for SnagIt not capturing CursorXP mouse pointers, it's probably an application "issue". It's probably not capturing whatever kind of window CursorXP is using to draw the cursor. OneNote for example captures cursors just fine, so it's possible to do it. You might want to ask SnagIt support to look into it.

Emails with serial numbers and download links for customers who purchased CursorXP in the last 2 months will go out later this week. They have not gone out yet and won't tonight.

So basically we are receiving a new serial even if we purchased XP when it was first released?
What about those who purchased CursorXP long before 2 months ago?

And will this ever show up in the Misc section of Stardock Central?

Sounds interesting, and I might play with the free version, but since I've bought the full version of CursorXP, it would be nice to know what the upgrade path might be. Do past purchasers have to repurchase this app?

Here are some answers:

You can upgrade to CursorFX for $9.95 (it's $19.95 new) if you have CursorXP.

Users who purchased CursorXP since October 1, 2007 will receive CursorFX free when it's completed.

guys.., i try to re-do Lexa with CursorFX and i have to say that it was a painful job., the hot spot is realy hard to setup and every time i try to open a .curxptheme with cursorfx it crash, i'm using the free vertion, not the Plus.

Try to go back into basics..., you dont need to make a 100% make up of the program...

my two cent.., and getting back to CursorXP :P

Well, there's one issue when trying to use the upgrade page for CursorFX.

When I enter my (valid) CursorXP serial, I get an error that says "Your CursorXP registration could not be found". It works correctly in Stardock Central, though, and it's the exact value in the support email. Guess this part isn't working yet.

Since CursorXP works fine for me under Vista, what compelling reason (apart from what looks like a pretty good UI) is there for me to upgrade (especially considering the upgrade page won't let me upgrade)?

I already paid for CursorXP last year and I do not think I should have to pay again since I paid more than $19.95 for it. I will just keep the old version then.

Why in the world should someone have to pay $9.95 for an upgrade for this beta even if you had CursorXP for years. Is CursorXP being done with for a hole new software? I'm confused ;p . Anyway after all the negitive post about CursorFx, I may wait awhile to see what it's all about.

I agree hot spot editing needs work. We will improve it in the next few days. For Beta 1 we've given priority to the front end UI and the actual program engine.

For simply migrating a .CurXPTheme to the .CursorFX format simply open the file in the editor and Save as.. into the new format.
CursorFX let you also add effects right into cursor themes.

CursorFX Beta 1 registers the following combinations:

CTRL-SHIFT-C = Unloads CursorFX
CTRL-SHIFT-V = Toggles CursorFX ON / OFF

Opps! :NOTSURE: After going to the link for CursorFX I see it is a replacement for CursorXP. I still will not pay more since I had this for years.

(Using the free version).

Here's another issue I've found...

I can import and apply a CursorXP theme, but it doesn't show up in the list of available cursors in the UI list. I know it's a beta, but this seems like an obvious requirement (imported themes should appear in the list of available cursors). Also, while the settings changes do apply, they don't show the imported cursor in the preview portion of the screen.

Also, since I was already running CursorXP, I had to explicitly kill it in order to allow CursorFX to work. Either CursorFX should automatically unload CursorXP, or, at the very least, it should present a warning message indicating that CursorXP should be closed for the new program to function correctly. The lack of *any* awareness at all is questionable.

I would also suggest that there be an option for directly importing an existing package (maybe even a drag and drop operation), as opposed to having to open the 'new package' editor, and incurring the additional overhead of creating a new default package just before opening a package to import.

Based on my initial assessment, I would say that this is a good 'alpha' release, with lots of potential, but it has a way to go before it actually reaches 'beta', let alone an official release.

I suggest to change the keys because these are shourtcuts for Copy/Paste formating in Microsoft Word. :-s
