Individual Shortcuts to Individual Docs using Excel

TROUBLESHOOTING

I'm having issues with opening multiple documents using one application by the use of 'shortcut docklets'.

I have a few excel documents i use regularly, and when one document is open, the shortcuts tied to the others wont open the document, unless i < right click < open (which voids the efficiency of a shortcut!)

Any links to other posts, similar problems, or suggestions? I really like the app, but so far it hasnt improved my efficiency that much.

So what happens when you grab the actual file and drag it onto the dock? Instead of using that paticular software main shortcut link.

same thing. I'll drag the file icon into the dock, and when excel is open with another document running, the new shortcut won't activate the document.

I checked my folder options, and played with the ObjectDock options / troubleshooting. I dont get it... :NOTSURE:

Actually I can replicate that issue.

Try this. Place the documents in a folder somewhere. Right click on the dock and add a new custom fly out menu. Then name it to whatever you like and point it to the file you just created. When you click on the fly out you can scroll through the files. I was able to get this to work with Word. Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks dude. That sounds good, but one important note is that i have the free version. Is your suggestion functionality that comes with the Plus version?

I don't see "Add < Custom Fly Out"

you can do it on the free as a menu after 'add shortcut' to the folder - it's in the config option a drop down I think - not at home - get remember the steps off the top of my head

right click on dock
add > new shortcut
link should be the one to the folder
right under link = check the 'show folder in a menu'

Glad to hear it! If you need further help please contact [email protected].

Also I highly recomend the Plus version. It is only twenty bucks for something you would use all the time and everyone here I am certain can give you a ton of reasons beyond that to pick it up.  :CONGRAT:

Either way have a good holiday!
