"what he did was stupid"

Is this what the left has sunk to?

It seems that one of the indoctrinators of youth, failing to make a point and confining non-like minded individuals to re-education camps, has decided that dishonesty is the best policy.

In order to make a local conservative group look bad, he posted a message on the boards under their name praising the Columbine killers.  Not secure enough in his own beliefs, this "enlightened" member of the new leadership decided that he had to defame the owners of a site whose apparent crime was being conservative.  But he was just not as smart as he thought he was, for in his defamation, he left a trail that led straight to him!  He was arrested, but the DA is not going to prosecute.  And the owner of the site, a member of that vast right wing conspiracy, has stated he is glad for that as what this teacher did, while stupid (his words - from the quote in the title), it was and is protected under free speech.

Owen Robinson, owner of the site Boots and Sabers, is correct.  It is free speech.  And we can thank god that at least some of us still realize that.  But Free speech does not guarantee intelligent speech, and this was demonstrated by the teacher.  Or perhaps is more likely the case, this is the most intelligent speech he can muster.

Which does not say much for the left - or the teaching profession.

Somehow I don't think it's free speech if you deliberately impersonate someone else and make such outrageous statements. Libel is more like it, which is not covered under free speech, and is a crime.

Hurray for Libel!

It's a tort! Sue for damages!

You are probably right. But in this case the libeled is going to let it slide since the perpertrator was outed. I think the punishment of "fame" in this case is worse than anything the courts can do.

That is always the rub in these cases. In the end, the only real damage is to the teacher, the left and his profession.

Yeah and that is the right of the person who was wronged. Either way this moron has been publicly shamed.

And we can be thankful for the "one moron at a time" that we do hear about.

Cause there are so many of them. Most are not, but with the current crop, there are going to be enough to look at and shake ones head.
